Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and look after your personal information.
Media Giant is a digital marketing agency based in Wellington, New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, who else can see it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Last updated: 26 July 2026.
What we collect
We collect personal information in three ways:
- Enquiry and contact forms. When you submit a form on this site we collect the details you provide, typically your name, email address, phone number, business name, website address and the content of your message.
- Booking a call. If you book a meeting with us we collect the details you enter into the booking tool, including your name, email address and the time you choose.
- Analytics data. When you browse the site we collect standard usage information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the device and browser you use, your approximate location at city level, and how you found us. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies and is largely aggregated.
We do not ask for and do not want financial information, identity documents or any of the sensitive categories of personal information. Please do not send them to us through this website.
How we use your information
- Respond to your enquiry and provide the services you ask about.
- Prepare proposals, quotes and reporting for you.
- Improve our website, content and marketing.
- Measure the performance of our own advertising campaigns.
- Meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We do not share it with third parties except the service providers listed below, or where the law requires it.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses cookies to remember preferences and to understand how visitors use our pages. We load our analytics and advertising tags through Google Tag Manager, which means the specific tags in use can change over time without this page changing.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers let you refuse them entirely. The site will still work if you do, though some features may behave differently. We do not currently show a cookie banner, because the cookies we set are limited to analytics and advertising measurement rather than anything that identifies you by name.
Who else processes your data
We use a small number of providers that may process data about your visit or your enquiry:
- Google Analytics 4, through Google Tag Manager. Measures site traffic and visitor behaviour. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Google Ads. Conversion tracking and remarketing tags, so our own advertising is relevant and measurable. You can manage ad personalisation in your Google Ads Settings.
- Amazon Web Services. Our website is hosted with AWS, and the contact forms are delivered by an AWS function that emails your enquiry to us. Your enquiry passes through AWS infrastructure on its way to our inbox.
- Cal.com. The booking links on this site open Cal.com, which collects the details you enter to schedule the meeting.
- Microsoft. Our email runs on Microsoft 365, so enquiries you send us are stored there.
Some of these providers store data on servers outside New Zealand, including in Australia and the United States. Where information is disclosed offshore we take reasonable steps to ensure it is subject to comparable privacy safeguards, as required by information privacy principle 12 of the Privacy Act 2020.
Our use of AI
We use AI tools to draft website copy, articles and ad content, and a person reviews that work before it is published. Where we use AI on client work, the material we put into those tools is the brief and the business information we have been given, not the personal information of people who enquire through this site. We do not use your enquiry to train any AI model, and we do not allow our providers to do so.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it. Enquiry details are generally retained while we are corresponding with you and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us. Client records are kept for the duration of our engagement and for seven years afterwards to meet tax and accounting requirements. Analytics data is retained according to the settings of the analytics platform, after which it is deleted or aggregated.
Your rights: access and correction
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if you think it is wrong. To make a request, email us at hello@mediagiant.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days. There is no charge for a request unless it is unusually large, in which case we will tell you the cost before doing the work.
You can also ask us to delete information we no longer need. If we have to keep something for tax or legal reasons we will tell you what and why.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. That includes encrypted connections to this website, access controls on the systems that hold client data, and multi-factor authentication on the accounts that matter. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we treat your information with care and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.
Links to other sites
This site links to other websites, including our clients' sites and the social platforms we work on. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site and this policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information.
Children
Our services are sold to businesses and this site is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us their details, email us and we will delete them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page with the date it was updated. If a change is significant we will make that clear on the site.
